Marketing Director

Summary

The Marketing Director is responsible for executing marketing initiatives that increase brand awareness, brand affinity, and help move prospects through lead funnels. Candidates must be creative, efficient, analytical, good communicators, possess excellent writing skills, have the ability to work well on a team and independently, able to supervise workers, and effectively multitask as they manage multiple projects and people. A strong sense of institutional branding is also necessary to communicate a consistent message in all initiatives and materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to create awareness of TLU and to generate interest in specific TLU programs
  • Build a marketing plan and conduct/maintain competitor research
  • Supervise a small team with 2 members serving in a matrixed reporting capacity; direct marketing team meetings and planning sessions
  • Work with Alumni Relations and the Director of Communications and Content on major print and digital initiatives
  • Monitor, measure, and analyze the effectiveness of TLU’s marketing initiatives, making adjustments as needed throughout execution
  • Serve as a liaison to the creative team/agency partner(s) to produce advertising and marketing collateral
  • Serve as a liaison and thought leader with Online Program Management (OPM) providers
  • Develop and maintain a trademark and licensing program with a robust merchandising component
  • Collaborate with the digital team to ensure comprehensive development of marketing initiatives
  • Develop marketing strategies by studying brand and enrollment indicators
  • Produce ideas for promotional events and organize efficiently (in concert with Enrollment Management and Alumni Relations)
  • Assist the Vice President Marketing & Communications in inculcating and enforcing brand standards across the institution
  • Serve on institutional and cross-functional committees as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing or related field
  • Work experience in higher education marketing preferred
  • Supervisory experience
  • Demonstrable experience leading or managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, email marketing, and/or advertising campaigns
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate
  • Experience in optimizing landing pages and user funnels

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in marketing research and analysis
  • Able to develop budgets; familiar with financial planning and strategy
  • Self-motivated yet customer-focused
  • Skilled at creating and maintaining agency relationships
  • Proficient in process management, ideally experience in Monday.com or similar project management software
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Work in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment with little exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust. Working conditions are moderately quiet
  • There may be occasional travel and weekend work required
  • This position is a full-time on-campus position
