Area Coordinator
Texas Lutheran University invites applications for an Area Coordinator. This is a twelve (12) month Residence Life position. Under the responsibility of the Director of Residence Life, the Area Coordinator is responsible for the overall operation of a residential area on campus ranging from one-ten (1-10) buildings housing 170-300 total residents. The Area Coordinator is a professional staff member who provides support and leadership to residential students. The Area Coordinator position supervises staff, mentors residents, manages day-to-day operations for buildings, performs administrative tasks, serves on-call, assists with emergency response efforts, and coordinates over selected Learning Living Communities (LLC). Area Coordinators have additional opportunities for involvement in the department and University, and is encouraged to belong and contribute to professional associations. The Residence Life Department financially supports professional activities when able.
Residence Life and Housing Responsibilities:
Supervising up to 9 total resident assistants, including one senior resident assistant
- Overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the programming model for designated area
- Enforcing the Student Code of Conduct by serving as a hearing officer for designated area students referred for policy violations, and serving on University Disciplinary Panel/Title IX Panel
- Participates in residence life on-call rotation and serves as primary contact for emergencies
- Participating in the selection and training of paraprofessional staff
- Organize and facilitate one departmental collateral per academic year (such as RA Training, RA Selection, Housing Selection, etc.)
- Organize and facilitate one departmental collateral per summer term (such as Summer Programs, Summer Housing, RA Training, etc.)
- Organize and facilitate, with resident assistant staff, one campus wide event (based on area designation)
- Facilitating housing assignments; managing area occupancy, managing area operating budget(s); overseeing the facility management of buildings; and maintaining an environment within the area that is conductive to living and learning
- Coursework/experience in a combination of the following: educational programming, student conduct adjudications, mediation, supervision, advisement, or counseling is required
- One to two (1-2) years related experience in college or university operated residence halls or apartments and summer conferencing is required
- Ability to establish and maintain a living learning environment
- Ability to demonstrate administrative skills and personnel management
- Demonstrated ability to administer a budget
- Demonstrated programming ability and leadership
- Ability to plan, prioritize, schedule, and coordinate simultaneous activities
- Ability to work independently
- Demonstrated decision making based on university policy and precedent

- A meal plan that provides both dining hall meals and declining balance funds for use in various eateries on campus
- Professional Staff Pet Policy which would allow two pets of the following nature: two indoor cats or two indoor dogs (no more than 50lbs) or combination, or one fish aquarium (up to 25 gallons)
- Other duties as assigned

- Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree is preferred in Student Personnel or related field

Director Of Nursing
Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position as Director of Nursing. The successful candidate will serve as chair and administrator of the Nursing program and will be responsible for providing visionary leadership and administrative oversight of all aspects of the University’s BSN program. The Director will report to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and begin duties on June 1, 2021.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure continuing approval by the Texas Board of Nursing and accreditation by the AACN-CCNE
- Recruit, develop, verify, and maintain qualified faculty and staff
- Maintain effective administrative organization and operations for the Nursing program
- Implement policies to ensure successful recruitment, progression, and graduation of students, and licensing of graduates
- Ensure the availability of student clinical practicum rotations, simulation labs, and preceptorships based on curriculum and student learning needs
- Plan, develop and implement comprehensive evaluation and assessment plans for the nursing program, including its personnel, component organization and operations, and curriculum
- Represent the Nursing program in the community and serve as liaison to community health care facilities, resources, and to other nursing programs
- Work with appropriate University offices to acquire grants, gifts, and other resources for the Nursing program
- Engage with a culturally diverse student body to identify needs and support programs that enhance the TLU student experience
- Current license or privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas
- Earned master’s degree in Nursing and an earned doctoral degree in a relevant field
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in a transformational and transparent leadership role within a nursing program
- Minimum of three (3) years teaching in a baccalaureate nursing program
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in one or more specialty areas of nursing
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning consistent with the program mission, vision, values, and program outcomes
- Affirmation of the mission of Texas Lutheran University, a nationally recognized institution of the liberal arts and sciences in the Lutheran tradition (ELCA)
- Understanding of and appreciation for a church-related university

Nursing Clinical Coordinator
Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month administrative staff position in the Department of Nursing to begin February 15, 2021.
Requirements for the position include:
- Earned Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Texas or be eligible for licensure in Texas.
- Commitment to excellence in nursing education with undergraduate students consistent with the Department’s Mission, Values, and Program Outcomes.
- Evidence of at least two years of clinical expertise in medical-surgical nursing, obstetrical, pediatric, mental health/psychiatric, leadership, and/or public/community health nursing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for identifying issues, communicating with stakeholders (faculty, students, staff and agencies), and obtaining support for the nursing program).
- Ability to drive to clinical sites to maintain current and build new relationships for clinical placements.
- Ability to be available to work throughout the workday and a few evenings per week, as well as occasional weekends.
- Ability to work collegially with other faculty members and staff in the department and across campus.
- Commitment to university/community service, outreach, and continued professional development.
- Commitment to attracting, retaining, and educating students from traditionally underrepresented groups.

- Preference may be given to candidates who also offer one or more of the following:
- Evidence of experience in building and promoting community relationships, including developing student practicums in nursing.
- Evidence of successful clinical teaching experience in a specialty in nursing such as medical-surgical nursing, obstetrical, pediatric, mental health/psychiatric, leadership, and/or public/community health nursing.
- Evidence of contributions to diversity and/or experience working with underrepresented student populations, as well as professionals and patient populations of such backgrounds.
- Evidence of experience working within the rules, laws, and regulations relating to BSN programs in Texas.
- ANA or other appropriate certification in specialty or APRN.
