Sociology allows students to study issues that impact their lives and make sense of the present and future, often through study of the past. Sociology majors at TLU can also study criminal justice, which prepares you for work in the public sector, federal or state government, or law enforcement.

Sociology degree programs can prepare you for the rigors of law school by teaching you to think of ways to organize, analyze, restructure, and ultimately better the society we live in.

TLU offers many unique sociology programs for students, both on and off campus. There are many social and service organizations to join in order to gain leadership experience and prove your commitment to social responsibility.

There are also many internship opportunities in the public and private sector. You can learn a lot about our society and culture here in the United States by participating in the Washington Semester Program or by studying other cultures through our study abroad program. Students may also explore public policy by participating in TLU’s Student Government Association, which helps prepare students for higher degrees or careers in public service, law, academia, business, or government.
