Over one-third of students participate in 19 varsity sports. Since 2000, TLU has produced the most Academic All-Americans of any Texas university in the NCAA Division III.

TLU's intercollegiate athletics program exists for the growth and development of the students. The university brings 19 intercollegiate sports to the playing fields, courts, and stadiums of the NCAA Division III, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), and the American Southwest Conference.

The highly-competitive SCAC is currently comprised of nine universities spanning three states. It not only has an excellent reputation for athletic success but is also one of the premier DIII academic conferences in the nation, competing at the national level in many sports.
