Institutional Research Data Analyst

Position Information

The Institutional Research Data Analyst will assist the institution in the effective use of data and analysis to transform the lives of students. The primary focus of this position is supporting the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness with the development and maintenance of institutional data reporting and survey administration.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Extract, organize, and manage institutional data to support analysis and reporting.
  • Coordinate and manage the administration of institutional surveys and reporting of results.
  • Collaborate with others to determine reporting needs and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Communicate analyses and findings in meaningful ways to various audiences.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with other offices on campus.
  • Collaborate with others on identifying and implementing solutions for complex tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • A commitment to data equity and data justice when working with big and small data sets that underscores the importance of social justice and equitable interpretations for marginalized communities.
  • Proficiency using MS Excel for data entry, manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with successfully administering surveys.
  • Problem-solving skills to effectively find solutions to complex tasks.
  • Organizational skills to effectively prioritize completion of multiple tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Motivated to take initiative and work with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to effectively support clients in a professional manner.
  • An individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would produce the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collecting and analyzing institutional data in a university environment.
  • Experience using SQL to extract data for reporting and visualization.
  • Experience with Jenzabar or similar student information system.
  • Experience with institutional reporting at the state or federal level.
  • Master’s degree or higher in a related field.
