Assistant Registrar - Transfer

Position Summary

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate college and university transcripts and determine what courses will transfer especially as it pertains to students being admitted into accelerated nursing programs
  • Enter transfer credit data into the student information system
  • Evaluate transcripts for credit earned via AP, CLEP, and IB scores
  • Determine if institutions are accredited and evaluate transcript coursework for equivalencies
  • Communicate with academic departments for course description reviews and special student requests as it relates to evaluation of credit
  • Monitor processes and procedures concerning the evaluation of transfer credit and make changes in those procedures as needed
  • Generate transfer credit documents and notify students of the results of the transcript evaluation
  • Utilize document imaging software to electronically file the evaluation results to the student records
  • Maintain an awareness of program and course changes/additions as they arise via the Curriculum Committee and share that information with others who provide enrollment services
  • Maintain procedures documentation
  • Participate in programs supported by the Registrar’s Office such as transfer days, commencement, and summer registration programs both during and outside of regular work hours when requested by the Registrar
  • Gain proficiency and leverage student information systems (Slate, Jenzabar) to create efficiencies in the evaluation and articulation of transfer coursework
  • Participate in training and workshops as they relate to changing technology and higher education
  • Support the overall functioning of the Registrar’s Office by assisting with day-to-day student needs
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor’s degree required

Experience
Previous experience working with students is preferred; previous experience working in a university setting is preferred; previous experience evaluating academic transcripts is highly preferred; previous experience with Slate, Image Now, or Jenzabar EX is highly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Must be comfortable working with relational databases, student information systems, and other technology solutions such as database querying tools, document imaging, and dynamic academic catalogs

Must be comfortable working in a team environment and frequently interacting with other staff, students, parents, and faculty

Must be comfortable speaking publicly to groups of students and faculty

Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Physical Demands

Work is primarily sedentary.
Work requires normal concentration and manual dexterity to input data into computer

Working Conditions

Work is performed indoors in a typical office setting

Organizational Data

This is an exempt position. This position does not supervise other staff but may supervise student workers.
