Clinical Professor of Nursing - Seguin
Position Information
TLU seeks applicants for a Clinical Professor position with a focus on teaching excellence, scholarship, collegiality, professional development, and advising. We seek faculty members with outstanding qualifications who share the University’s core values of high standards of excellence in innovative and collaborative teaching and demonstrate a commitment to health equity in education. This full-time, non-tenure track position is for a 9-month appointment with 12 credit load hours per semester anticipated to begin in Fall 2024 for the Seguin campus location.
Position responsibilities:- Maintain qualifications for assigned teaching in area of expertise.
- Demonstrate innovative, effective teaching, supervision, and mentoring by engaging students, peers, and others in activities that enhance learning and educational advancement.
- Serve as advisors, mentors, tutors, or coaches as appropriate for learning needs of students.
- Actively contribute to service at the department, university, profession, and/or community.
- Participate in curricular evaluation and program assessment.
- Participate in scholarly activities to enhance instructional effectiveness according to appointment, rank, and academic preparation.
- Doctorate degree in nursing or related field is preferred, but applicant must hold an earned master’s degree in Nursing.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Texas or be eligible for licensure in Texas.
- Evidence of at least two years of clinical expertise in maternal newborn nursing, leadership, mental health/psychiatric nursing, and/or medical-surgical nursing.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and advising of undergraduate students consistent with the Department’s Mission, Values, and Program Outcomes.
- Ability to work collegially with other faculty members and staff in the department and across campus.
- Commitment to university/community service, outreach, and continued professional development.
- Commitment to attracting, retaining, and educating students from traditionally underrepresented groups.
- Understanding and support of the mission of Texas Lutheran University.
The Department of Nursing has approval from the Texas Board of Nursing to offer a baccalaureate degree in nursing and a direct entry Master of Science degree and is accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001. We have an excellent pre-licensure NCLEX-RN pass rate and employment rate for our BSN and MSN graduates. The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for a nursing career and requires all students to be involved in faculty-mentored undergraduate research.
