Assistant Professor or Lecturer in Kinesiology

Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full time faculty position in the Department of Kinesiology, starting Fall 2026.
Requirements for the position include:
- Doctoral or Master’s degree in Kinesiology or a closely related discipline. A doctorate is required for the tenure track Assistant Professor role. A Master’s degree merits appointment for a renewable, non tenure track, lecturer role.
- Ability to teach a variety of courses, both introductory and advanced, in the kinesiology curriculum
- Experience and capability in directing the Kieffer Kinesiology Lab at TLU
- Capability and interest in advising student majors for success
- Commitment to working collegially within the department and with representatives of other disciplines and programs on campus
- Desire to cultivate respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness as a role model
- Commitment to continued professional development
- Understanding and support of the mission of Texas Lutheran University
Preference will be given to candidates who meet the required qualifications and offer the following:
- Experience preparing students for meaningful employment, graduate study, and professional programs
- Experience with the supervision of students in a laboratory or fitness center
- Experience with the National Strength & Conditioning Association Certification
- Experience with human performance testing
- Ability to guide undergraduate experimental research projects using standard laboratory equipment
- Interest and capability to teach in the following areas:
- Theory of strength training
- Exercise and sport psychology
- Directed studies in the kinesiology laboratory
- Leadership in coaching and administration
- Foundations of kinesiology
- Neuromuscular function and motion analysis
- Senior research capstone course/projects
- Sport and exercise psychology
The Department of Kinesiology offers B.S. degrees in Kinesiology with specializations in exercise science, sport and fitness management, teaching/coaching, and rehabilitation science. The degree can lead to a Master of Athletic Training (M.A.T.) five-year degree for those qualified for admission after completing kinesiology requirements. The Kinesiology department consistently serves over 200 students (third highest at the institution) and has an excellent track record of preparing students for meaningful employment, graduate study, and professional programs. The Kieffer Kinesiology Laboratory has recently been updated with several pieces of testing and analysis equipment and supports student learning and required capstone projects.
