Development Coordinator

Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time Development Coordinator. This position provides administrative support to the VP of Development & Alumni Relations and the annual giving and alumni relations team to facilitate a high-quality development and alumni relations program.

Responsibilities Include: 

Administrative Support:

  • Provide high-level administrative support to the VP of Development & Alumni Relations, including calendar management, meeting management, correspondence, and project management. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the VP of Development & Alumni Relations to professionally screen and prioritize incoming communications to ensure time-sensitive donor and stakeholder inquiries are met and addressed appropriately.
  • Field and route general department phone calls by providing exceptional service to alumni and donors by directing calls to the appropriate team members. 
  • Provide a front-office presence by greeting visitors and directing them to the appropriate staff member or meeting location. 
  • Maintain office resources and process supply orders as needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors to acquire high-quality alumni and stewardship gifts.
  • Support the Vice President in budget management.

Strategic Communications:

  • Maintain a strategic social media presence for TLU Alumni Facebook and Instagram pages. Collaborate closely with the Director of Annual Giving and the Director of Development & Alumni Events to ensure all content is timely, relevant, and aligned with departmental goals.
  • Create monthly newsletters for alumni and university stakeholders to share updates, department milestones, alumni highlights, and donor recognitions, including but not limited to the Victory Bell, Parent & Family Newsletter, and other fundraising or event communications. 

Event & Program Support:

  • Assist Development & Alumni Relations with the coordination, arrangement, and management for TLU signature events such as Homecoming, Front Row, Day of Giving, Ring Ceremony, and other events as needed.
  • Provide support for the TLU Legacy Program by ensuring monthly gifts are delivered to participants.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:                                                      

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred or an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Preference for prior working experience in an office setting.
  • Strong skills in organization, human relations, and communications 
  • Ability to work with a diversity of alumni groups, ages, and interests.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter.
  • Ability to effectively work with and manage others.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must support the mission and strategic plan of Texas Lutheran University.
