Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time Strength & Conditioning Coach.
The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the development, implementation, and supervision of comprehensive strength, conditioning, and performance programs for student-athletes across Texas Lutheran University’s 19 varsity sports. This position supports the holistic development of student-athletes in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Division III athletics and TLU Athletics by emphasizing academic success, health, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and implement sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for off-season, pre-season and in-season for TLU’s 19 varsity sports.
- Conduct performance assessments and track athlete progress.
- Ensure programs are appropriate for varying experience levels and athletic demands.
- Lead and supervise team training sessions.
- Instruct proper lifting techniques, speed, agility, and conditioning drills.
- Collaborate with athletic trainers to support injury prevention and rehabilitation efforts.
- Modify programs for injured or recovering athletes as needed.
- Promote overall health, nutrition awareness, and recovery strategies.
- Oversee daily operations of the Lundquist Student Athlete Center.
- Maintain equipment and ensure safety standards are upheld.
- Enforce policies and procedures for facility use.
- Manage budget and purchasing of necessary equipment, tracking systems, etc.
- Work closely with head coaches to align training with team goals.
- Communicate regularly with sports medicine staff, sport coaches and athletics administration.
- Educate coaches and athletes on performance best practices.
- Ensure compliance with NCAA Division III rules and institutional policies.
- Maintain accurate records of training programs and athlete participation.
- Assist with scheduling and organization of facility usage.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
- Current certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa-SCCC).
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
- Strong knowledge of strength training, conditioning, and injury prevention principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Previous experience working in collegiate athletics.
- Experience working with multiple sports programs.
- Familiarity with performance tracking software.
