Strings Camp

Dates: July 27-July 31, 2015, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Location: Ayers Recital Hall, Schuech Fine Arts Center, Texas Lutheran University

Tuition: $100 for first family member, $75 for additional siblings (attend both Strings and Vocal Arts Camps for $175/student and $150 for each additional sibling); Lindenbaum Outreach students receive a $75 discount

Instrument rental: $15 for the 5 days of camp. Must be pre-ordered, pick up and return will take place at the church at the beginning and end of camp. Renter is liable for any damage.

String Camp Details:

A fun-filled musical week with something for everyone- 1st – 6th graders who are experienced violin, viola, or cello students or beginners with no previous experience. Daily offerings will include private instruction, playing as a group, rock and improvisation training, basic music history and vocabulary lessons, rhythmic and note reading instruction, performances for students by faculty, crafts, games, and a final student performance for the parents!

Camp attire: Wear comfortable, casual clothing for afternoon activities, and wear concert attire for Friday afternoon performance.

Concert: Friday, July 31 at 11 a.m. at Ayers Recital Hall - please bring friends and family!

Vocal Arts Camp

Dates: July 27 through July 31, 2015, Monday–Friday, 1:30 p.m. - 5:00 p. m.

Location: Ayers Recital Hall, Schuech Fine Arts Center, Texas Lutheran University

Vocal camp details:

A full week of singing, friendship and fun for students entering grades 3-8! All young singers are invited to join us for a week of learning group vocal technique, proper performance etiquette, excellent choral and solo literature.

The program will engage in activities that build music vocabulary, rhythmic, singing, social, gross and fine motor skills. The week will culminate in a group performance on the final afternoon of our camp.

Each student will have the opportunity for

  • Private vocal coaching
  • Solo performance
  • Choral performance
  • Acquiring healthy, productive vocal techniques

Camp attire: Wear comfortable, casual clothing for afternoon activities. Wear concert attire for Friday afternoon’s concert.

Concert: Friday, July 31 at 3:30 p.m. at Ayers Recital Hall - please bring friends and family!

High School Vocal Arts Camp

Dates: July 13 through July 17, 2015, 1 p.m. - 5 p. m.

Location: Ayers Recital Hall, Schuech Fine Arts Center, Texas Lutheran University

Tuition: $100 for first family member, $75 for additional siblings

Registration Deadline: July 5

Director: Dr. Douglas Boyer, Director of TLU School of Music; Laurie Jenschke, M.M. Texas Lutheran University music faculty and Director of the Community Music Academy; Deb Mayes, accompanist

Vocal camp details:

TLU’s High School Vocal Arts Camp is for incoming 9th through 12th graders who would love the experience of learning to sing, interpret and perform a Broadway solo and sing as a chorus member. The week will culminate in a public recital on the final afternoon of our camp. 

Each student will have the opportunity for

  • Private vocal coaching
  • Solo performance
  • Choral performance
  • Acquiring healthy, productive vocal techniques

Camp attire: Wear comfortable, casual clothing for afternoon activities. Wear concert attire for Friday afternoon’s concert.

Concert: Friday, July 17 at 3:30 p.m. at Ayers Recital Hall, Schuech Fine Arts Center

Summer Private Lesson Offerings

Private violin, viola and cello lessons will be offered during the summer.

Lesson days and times will be scheduled with each instructor

Students must take a minimum of 4 lessons and may take up to a maximum of 12 lessons for the summer.

  • 30-minute lessons: $25 per lesson
  • 45-minute lessons: $37.50 per lesson
  • 60-minute lessons: $50 per lesson
