Part-Time Marketing Generalist

The Marketing Generalist is responsible for overseeing and executing a variety of projects within the department, managing all stages of the project lifecycle from initiation to completion. This part time position fills a variety of roles within the marketing department including project management, administrative duties, and possible graphic design. This position supports the university’s mission through the development of engaging, effective marketing content across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate is highly organized and a creative and strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee the entire project lifecycle from intake to completion, including task delegation, vendor management, communication and ensuring final deliverables meet the department’s standards.
- Budget and Financial Oversight: Assist the Vice President in planning the department’s budget for the fiscal years and ensure projects stay within budget throughout the year. Manage the collection, approval and submission of invoices to accounting and credit card reconciliation.
- Team and Vendor Coordination: Work closely with the Vice President to coordinate schedules, assign tasks to vendors, and track project progress with the Project Management System. Maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, departments, faculty and students.
- General Operations Support: Provide operational support for the day-to-day functioning of the Marketing and Communications department, ensuring smooth workflow and timely project delivery.
Additional Responsibilities
- Student Work Supervision: Manage student workers, assign tasks, oversee their work and help coordinate their schedules to support ongoing projects and department activities
- Graphic Design Management: work as needed on various projects, in coordination with outsourcing external graphic design projects
- Website and Communications Management: Manage and update the university’s website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and aligned with marketing goals

- Identify and participate in resolution of departmental/institutional problems with continuous quality improvement as a goal

Customer Relations
- Make students, faculty, staff, visitors and external partners feel welcome and respected as individuals, treating them with courtesy and dignity
- Exhibit appropriate behavior in customer areas
- Demonstrate effective and respectful communications via phone, email, video conferencing, etc.
- Ability to utilize technology to promptly meet the needs of all stakeholders
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field preferred
Experience
- Prefer a minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated administrative experience marketing, project management, or graphic design.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong people skills
- Must be able to maintain an elevated level of confidentiality
- Considerable judgment is required
- Familiarity with content management systems
- Familiarity with project management systems
- Ability to make decisions guided by precedent and university policies
- Organizational and planning skills are essential
- Standard clerical skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in English grammar
- Meticulous with attention to accuracy
- Preferred experience in graphic design and basic website management
- Understanding and support of the mission and strategic plan of Texas Lutheran University.
