Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Drive-thru VITA tax clinics will be offered from February 1, 2023 through April 15, 2023 on Wednesdays from 5 - 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the Beck Center parking lot. Assistance is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and there are no appointments available. Please note there be no clinics March 11-19 since TLU will be closed for Spring Break.
Taxpayers should bring all tax forms, a photo ID, and their Social Security card.
The IRS's VITA program has operated for more than 50 years and offers free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals including:
- People who generally make $57,000 or less
- Persons with disabilities; and
- Limited English-speaking taxpayers
While the IRS manages the VITA program, VITA sites are managed by IRS partners and staffed by their volunteers who want to make a difference in their communities. The IRS-certified volunteers who provide tax counseling are often retired individuals associated with nonprofit organizations that receive grants from the IRS.
VITA services are not only free, they are also a reliable and trusted source for preparing tax returns. All VITA volunteers who prepare returns must take and pass tax law training that meets or exceeds IRS standards.
