Financial Services Specialist

Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time Financial Services Specialist. This position provides support for Student Financial Services and the Division of Financial Services while providing exemplary customer service to our students and families.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Balance / check out vault daily
- Supervise daily operations of cashier window and student accounts in Student Financial Services
- Oversee daily cash drawer checkout
- Monitor cash flow and cash levels for the vault / cashier
- Assist with preparing and distributing student billing statements
- Coordinate student balance/status issues with other departments
- Maintain relationships and current information with collection agencies
- Administer and reconcile Perkins loans
- Administer and reconcile third party billings and payments
- Process all online payments
- Process and reconcile Bulldog Buck purchases daily
- Provide first point-of-contact for Student Financial Services / Financial Services
- Process U.S. mail and distribute accordingly
- Create outside scholarship batches
- Process/manage hotel reservation requests for TLU
- Review and approve/decline academic transcript requests
- Manage office supplies
- Support the Division of Financial Services as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years experience in a professional office setting; cashier or accounting experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent and tactful verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with computer-based spreadsheets, data retrieval and word processing
- General clerical skills
- Attention to accuracy and details
- Ability to exercise independent judgement
- Ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality
- Ability to be organized and meet deadlines
- Ability to be a self-starter and follow through
- Understand and support the mission and strategic plan of Texas Lutheran University
