Academic Assistant for Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program
Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time ABSN Academic Assistant to begin February 1, 2021. This position provides administrative and clerical support to the faculty of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program located at Resolute Hospital in New Braunfels, Texas, and will work closely with the Academic Assistant in Nursing located on the TLU campus.
Requirements for the position include:
- Three years’ experience in an office setting.
- Knowledge of procedures and practices in office administration.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, both in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to analyze facts and individual circumstances to determine appropriate action to be taken within the limits of standard practice.
- Proficiency in English, grammar, punctuation, spelling, proofreading management and desktop publishing.
- Ability to work independently to organize and prioritize work following pre-established standard practices.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- High proficiency in personal computer systems and software.
- Ability to maintain accurate filing system and records.
- Ability to work effectively with all departments and employees of the university as well as external constituents.
- Understanding of and appreciation for small campus, church-related higher education.
- Understanding and support of the mission of Texas Lutheran University.
Preference may be given to candidates who also offer one or more of the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or administrative program preferred, but not required. Relevant college coursework and/or a minimum of eighteen months of equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Evidence of contributions to diversity and/or experience working with underrepresented or disadvantaged student populations.
- Evidence of experience working as a team to provide excellent customer service
- Evidence of experience working within the rules, laws, and regulations relating to BSN programs in Texas.
The Department of Nursing has full approval from the Texas Board of Nursing to offer a baccalaureate degree in nursing and is accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001. We have an excellent pre-licensure NCLEX-RN pass rate and employment rate for our graduates. The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for a nursing career and requires all students to be involved in faculty-mentored undergraduate research or evidence-based practice projects.
