Communications Specialist/Police Dispatcher

Texas Lutheran University seeks part-time as needed Communications Specialist/Dispatcher for our Campus Police. This position will route incoming calls and provide information to the public. Shifts may vary.

Responsibilities include:

  • Primary switchboard operator for a position that operates 24 hours per day/7 days a week
  • Answer and/or route questions from callers to appropriate departments
  • Dispatch emergency personnel as necessary
  • Train student workers in console operation;
  • Maintain current faculty/staff/student directory;
  • Maintain a log of all system telephones (locations and numbers)
  • Keep a current library of out-of-town directories and provides directory assistance and information to the public; and
  • Perform criminal history checks as requested
  • Understanding of and appreciation for a church-related university

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Work is performed indoors in a typical office setting; may be required to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.

Part-Time Custodian

Texas Lutheran University is seeking applicants for our Custodial Services Department for a part-time position. TLU is seeking reliable individuals that meet the following requirements:

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent or two years custodial experience
  • Minimum of 4 months of custodial experience
  • Must be available weekends
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand or walk for 90% of the shift
  • Ability to read and comprehend written and spoken English
  • Understanding of and appreciation for a church-related university

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: cleaning designated areas with an assigned team; scrubbing, buffing, stripping, neutralizing and waxing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning rooms and bathrooms, and safely mixing cleaning agents/chemicals.
