 About Performance Awards Performance awards provide artistic and cultural recognition for outstanding musical and dramatic media performance to those students in any major field of study who demonstrate a meaningful contribution to the life of the university through participation in performance ensembles while they are pursuing a baccalaureate degree.
Performance Awards may be awarded in addition to other scholarship awards and are determined by level of student participation. Only students participating in more than one ensemble or performance area would be eligible for the upper range of the Performance Award. Audition required.

 Performance Awards Academic Requirements Incoming freshmen, transfer students and returning TLU students who demonstrate superior musical ability in their area of performance are eligible. New students must first complete the admissions process. |

 Participation Requirements
- Attend all rehearsals and performances unless excused in advance by the director.
- Be prepared musically for all rehearsals and performances.
- Represent the university and the organization in a manner befitting the character of the institution and organization.
- Enroll in private instruction and labs as required by the instructor.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress standards.
- Demonstrate leadership within the school and organization.

 Performance Awards Criteria for Renewal Awards are reviewed by the director/instructor annually. The level and quality of participation determine whether an award will be renewed, as well as the amount of the renewal. There are no guarantees of renewal. Awards are rescinded if participation is discontinued or unsatisfactory. |

- Submit a completed Music Scholarship Audition Application. Applications are due one week prior to your selected audition date.
- Schedule a performance audition.*
*Audio/video tape audition may be allowed if distance from campus is prohibitive.

 About Jones Fine Arts Scholarship for Music Majors Jones Fine Arts Awards provide artistic and cultural recognition for outstanding musical and dramatic media performance to those students majoring in music or dramatic media who demonstrate a meaningful contribution to the life of the university through participation in performance ensembles while they are pursuing a baccalaureate degree.
The Jones Fine Arts Award is offered to serious music students who intend to pursue a bacclaureate degree with music as their major. Students will participate in ensembles appropriate to their principal instrument (organ, piano, strings, voice, or winds). The amount of the award will depend on academic standing and the level and quality of particpation in the various performance groups: band, choir, organ, piano, strings, or voice. The Jones Fine Arts Award is intended to provide recognition for scholarship and talent in the study of music. |

 Jones Fine Arts Academic Requirements Incoming freshmen, transfer students and returning TLU students who demonstrate superior musical ability and choose MUSIC AS THEIR MAJOR may be considered for this scholarship. Freshmen should rank in the top 25 percent of their high school graduating class and have commensurate SAT/ACT scores. Transfer students and continuing TLU students must have a CGPA of 2.5 to be considered. Recipients of this award must participate in a performance group at TLU. |

 About Da capo Award in Music (By Invitation Only)
The most distinguished of our academic scholarships for students who plan to major in music. Students who have excelled in high school and who have indicated that they plan to major in music are invited to participate in PACE Day at TLU. On PACE Day, you compete through interviews and auditions for TLU's top scholarship award of up to full tuition. This scholarship is renewed for up to three additional years provided you maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
The Da capo Award is offered to serious music students who intend to pursue a baccalaureate degree with music as their major. Students will participate in ensembles appropriate to their principal instrument (organ, piano, strings, voice, or winds). The amount of the award will depend on academic standing and the level and quality of participation in the various performance groups: band, choir, organ, piano, strings, or voice. The Da capo Award is intended to provide recognition for outstanding scholarship and talent in the study of music. |

 Da capo Award Academic Requirements Incoming freshmen who demonstrate superior musical ability and choose MUSIC AS THEIR MAJOR may be considered for this award. Freshmen with a minimum articulated high school CGPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and either SAT/ACT 1150/25 OR who rank in the top 15 percent of their class may apply. An audition and interview are required. The audition and interview will take place on campus during PACE Day. To qualify for this award, the recipient must also participate in a performance group at TLU. |

| In preparation for your scholarship auditions, we ask that you prepare the following: |
|
 Vocal and Choral: Two contrasting, memorized pieces that demonstrate your musical strengths – one selection in a foreign language and one selection in English. It is recommended that at least one piece represent repertoire appropriate for All-State and/or UIL. In addition to performing your prepared repertoire, we may also ask you to sing scales and vocalizes. |
|
 Strings: Two contrasting selections, one slow and lyrical and one faster and more technical, and a memorized two octave scale, ascending and descending.. All-state audition material, etudes, or appropriate solo material are encouraged. |
|
 Winds: Two contrasting selections, one slow and lyrical and one faster and more technical, and a memorized chromatic scale, ascending and descending. All-state audition material, etudes, and appropriate solo material are encouraged. |
|
 Percussion: Two selections, one on either timpani or snare, and one on marimba (4-mallet encouraged, 2-mallet acceptable). All-state audition material, etudes, and appropriate solo material are encouraged. |
|
 Piano: Two selections of contrasting style and time period. Memorization is encouraged but not required. In addition to performing your prepared repertoire, you may be asked to play scales or arpeggios. |
