TLU Board of Regents Extends President Cottrell's Contract

From TLU Board of Regents Chair Bob Oliver:

The TLU Board of Regents is pleased to announce that Dr. Debbie Cottrell has signed a new contract as President of Texas Lutheran University with a five-year term that began on Jan. 1, 2023, and extends to 2028. Dr. Cottrell’s first term as President began in July 2019.

On behalf of the board, we want to extend our appreciation for President Cottrell’s leadership and the direction she has taken the university during her time as president. Her steady hand and measured guidance through extraordinary times over the past three years, including a global pandemic and difficult economy, has been exemplary. Under her leadership, TLU achieved full accreditation from SACSCOC, expanded its graduate program offerings, developed and made significant strides on the TLU 2025 strategic plan, and identified and implemented critical revenue enhancing initiatives to position TLU for future growth.

The Board of Regents would also like to acknowledge the university’s continued recognition and accolades from U.S. News & World Report, the Princeton Review, and The Chronicle of Higher Education that affirm the dedication and hard work by President Cottrell and TLU’s administration, faculty, and staff.

Please join me in recognizing and thanking President Cottrell for her commitment as we prepare for the important work before us to fulfill the mission of TLU that is built on our core values of education, community, and faith.
