We’re sending a huge Bulldog round of applause to TLU alum Kanetra Hights, who was recently named a 2025/2026 Spurs Legacy and Leadership award winner! Honored by the San Antonio Spurs for her leadership and work in the community, Hights expressed her gratitude on LinkedIn, saying, “The work I do I don’t take lightly. I do it because I want to change people’s lives and perspectives. I want to influence others and make sure that every human being belongs, is valued, and seen.”
Hights is employed at C.H. Guenther & Son, where she is currently director of talent management, having previously served as director of diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition, Hights serves as vice president of the San Antonio LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce.
Hights earned double degrees in communications and dramatic media at TLU, graduating in 2004, then returned to her alma mater, completing her degree in education in 2006. She is certified to teach 8th–12th grade speech, debate, and theatre, and lives in San Antonio.
The Spurs Legacy and Leadership Award honors community leaders who demonstrate a commitment to building leaders and legacies within their communities. Congratulations Kanetra, and thank you for all the good work you do!
