Pride Month

Pride Month is a month-long commemoration of the historical and cultural contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people. Usually held in June to remember the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in 1969, Pride finds its roots in the struggles of these traditionally marginalized groups to gain acceptance and acknowledgment within their communities and nation. Now, Pride Month also serves as a time of celebration, where these historically silenced individuals can make themselves known and where the community can honor them as an integral aspect of society. At TLU, we remember Pride Month in April so that our students, faculty, and staff can be a part of the celebration together.
