Dr. Cottrell Attends Conference in Colorado
TLU President Dr. Debbie Cottrell’s visit to Colorado this week encompassed a twofold mission: meeting up with old friends and making a few new ones. On Friday, July 12, Dr. Cottrell and husband Alan hosted a dinner for Denver-area TLU alumni and their families. Then it was off to Boulder, where the two took part in the Presidential Vocation and Institutional Mission conference hosted by the Council of Independent Colleges. The conference’s Seminar for Prospective College and University Presidents and Their Spouses provides an opportunity for current university presidents and their spouses or partners to mentor individuals and couples who are contemplating future presidencies.
The program aims to help those in senior leadership roles at CIC-member schools to discern whether they are being called to a presidency position and offers guidance to them as well as to their spouses or partners. As part of a team of facilitators, the Cottrells will offer support to participants over the course of the year, helping them to discover whether they want to pursue presidency roles.
