What Does It Mean To Be An NCAA Division III Student-Athlete?
As the parent of a talented student-athlete, you are no doubt very proud of their achievements, both on and off the field. At TLU, it's a privilege and an amazing opportunity to be part of one of our 18 intercollegiate teams, and your student-athlete's success in the classroom is just as important to us as success on the court or the field.
Our goal for all student-athletes is to receive an affordable, top-rated education while also realizing their goal of playing collegiate sports.
Bulldog Athletics is home to national champions, All-Americans, conference titles, and much more. We are proud to say our athletic success is paired right along side our academic success and the overall TLU experience. TLU is a community in every sense of the word and being the parent of an athlete gives you a glimpse into how special and transformative competing at the college can be.

Scholarships & Financial Aid
While we do not offer athletics scholarships as a DIII university, we do believe all students should be able to afford a small, private college experience.
For that reason, we promise at least $20,000 per year for up to four years to admitted students with a 3.60 core academic GPA. We can proudly say that 100% of admitted students receive some type of merit-based, academic scholarship.
Graduation Is The Number One Goal For TLU Athletics
- Recruit academically proficient and achievement-oriented student-athletes.
- Provide an academic support system that provides sound academic advising and counseling provides accessibility to tutors, teaches efficient and effective use of study time, and, promotes the wise selection of course work and course loads, with specific attention given to the time and period correlation.
- Present athletics as a co-curricular activity consistent with the educational philosophy found in the mission statement of the university.
