Scholarships & Financial Aid
Your application - either through the TLU Application, Common Application, or ApplyTexas - also serves as your application for TLU academic scholarships
The TLU Promise
We believe all students should be able to afford a small, private college experience.
For that reason, we promise at least $20,000 per year for up to four years to admitted students with a 4.0 core academic GPA.
Academic Scholarships for First-Year Students
We are test optional, so no SAT/ACT score is required to qualify for academic scholarships. See below for additional awards if you submit a SAT/ACT test score.
Core Academic GPA | Academic Scholarship | Scholarship Amount |
---|---|---|
4.40 or above | Presidential | $22,000/yr |
4.00-4.39 | TLU Promise | $20,000/yr |

3.30-3.69 | Academic Excellence | $15,000/yr |
< 3.30 | Heritage | $12,000/yr |
SAT/ACT Test Takers
If you take the SAT and score 1100 or above, or the ACT and score 22 or above, you will want to submit your test score to earn an additional $1,000 to $3,000 depending on your score. The SAT/ACT award of $1,000-$3,000 is in addition to your Academic Scholarship (Heritage, Academic Excellence, TLU Promise, or Presidential). Test scores must be received by June 1 to be eligible for a SAT/ACT award.
