Over 40% of university students participate in 19 varsity sports. Since 2000, TLU has produced the most Academic All-Americans of any Texas university in the NCAA Division III.
TLU’s intercollegiate athletics program exists for the growth and development of the students. The university brings 19 intercollegiate sports to the playing fields, courts, and stadiums of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The program operates under the principles of fair play and amateurism and provides equal opportunity for talented individuals. TLU student-athletes participate in a nationally competitive collegiate program that is values-based and educationally sound.
Our coaches look for three key attributes when recruiting student-athletes:
- Character – Be leaders on the field and in the classroom.
- Academics – Demonstrate the ability to complete college-level work in addition to self-discipline, time management skills, and a commitment to succeed in the classroom.
- Athletics – Possess the athletic ability and talent to win in a game, match, or meet. Prove to be leaders and understand the value of being part of a team.
Men’s teams include baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor/outdoor track & field, and cross country. Women’s teams include acrobatics & tumbling, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, indoor/outdoor track & field, and volleyball.
