Licensure or Certification of Professional Programs

TLU's curriculum for professional programs was developed to meet national exams and requirements set forth by the State of Texas.

Disclosure

As of November 1, 2019, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education posted their final regulations to be effective as of July 1, 2020 regarding institutional expectations for programs that lead to licensure or certification. The U.S. Department of Education made additions and revisions to Section § 668.43 Institutional Information. Universities are now required to disclose whether completion of an educational programs that leads to a professional license or certification would be sufficient to meet licensure requirements in a State for that same occupation including: A list of all States for which the institution has determined that its curriculum meets the State educational requirements for licensure or certification; A list of all States for which the institution has determined that its curriculum does not meet the State educational requirements for licensure or certification; and A list of all States for which the institution has not made a determination that its curriculum meets the State educational requirements for licensure or certification.

Within the State of Texas

Every state has its own criteria regarding licensure of various professions. The curriculum for programs at TLU were developed to meet any national exams and requirements set forth by the state of Texas. The following is a list of our programs that lead to licensure or certification and the subsequent Texas state agency that sets the requirements for licensure or certification in the state of Texas.

Disclosure and Recommendations for Outside the State of Texas

Lutheran University is unable to determine certification eligibility and program completion requirements outside the State of Texas. There is not an official centralized listing of all states’ requirements for the four programs listed above. If you are a current or prospective student interested in pursuing licensure or certification in another state we recommend you review the following links for your discipline to determine if the TLU program meets the state’s licensure or certification requirements. The Department Chair/Program Director of each program is available to assist with your review.
