As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and ongoing conversations around consent, in collaboration with the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA) and the SAFE student organization, TLU welcomes Crystal. M Garcia on Wednesday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Jackson Auditorium.
This presentation will explore the dynamics of various types of healthy relationships university students often face. We will learn about consent, communication, and creating a situation that is respectful and mutually beneficial for all.
More About Crystal M. Garcia
Crystal M. Garcia is the Training Coordinator at TAASA. Crystal is a solo mom and survivor leader living with complex PTSD. She has a long history of working with survivors and is passionate about issues related to campus sexual violence. Crystal is the recipient of the 2013 TAASA Community Engagement Award and the 2016 NSVRC Visionary Voice Award. Crystal studied Health, Substance Abuse Studies, and Exercise and Sports Science at Texas Tech University. She holds a Master’s Degree in Population Health Management from The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and is working on her Doctorate in Public Health with a specialization in Health Equity and is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success Sigma Alpha Pi Honor Society.
