 | TLU Alumni Recommendation Award (TARA) TARA Guidelines The Texas Lutheran University Alumni Recommendation Award (TARA) was established to highlight the connection between our distinguished alumni and our new students. TLU Alumni recommend prospective students who they feel will add to the community of learning and faith that is the Bulldog community.
The guidelines are as follows:
- Any TLU alumnus/a may nominate only one student per academic year to receive the $1000 award.
- Student must be a full-time undergraduate student, attending TLU for the first time.
- The award is good for the first year only and is non-renewable.
- The recommended student must meet university admissions acceptance standards.
- Deadline for submission is December 1, 2011 for Spring 2012.
- Deadline for submission is March 1, 2012 for Fall 2012.
- The recommended student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- TLU employees are eligible to disperse voucher, but not to a spouse or dependant receiving tuition benefit.
- The nominating alumnus/a must complete all portions of the online TARA nomination form.
The Admissions and Alumni Offices will verify the nomination forms before the awarded is given. |

 TLU Distinguished Alumni Award This award is given to alumni who have established an outstanding record for themselves. This includes professional, personal and civic achievements. They typically have graduated at least 20 years prior to receiving award. Current Faculty and Staff are eligible for this award if they are alumnus. A maximum of two awards are given each year. |

  TLU Distinguished Community Service Award This award is given to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to their local community. This award is typically given to someone in the Seguin/Guadalupe County area. A maximum of one award is given each year. |

 TLU Distinguished Service Award This award is given to alumni, faculty, staff and friends who have provided outstanding volunteer efforts (or those efforts above and beyond the duties of a paid position) to their nation, state, or to TLU. A maximum of two awards are given each year. |

 TLU Young Alumni Award This award is given to alumni that have graduated 10 years ago or less. It recognizes outstanding service and accomplishments of an exceptional young alumna/alumnus of Texas Lutheran. Areas of service may include professional, personal, civic and/or to service to TLU. This individual’s achievements bring inspiration to young alumni, their peers and current undergraduate students. A maximum of one award is given each year. |
