There’s nothing like seeing years of work coming to fruition—seeing a vision come to life. That’s exactly what happened on Saturday, December 6 at Texas Lutheran University, when the Bulldog family and friends came together to dedicate the brand-new Verne Lundquist Student Athletic Center.
Highlights of the day included remarks from TLU President Dr. Debbie Cottrell, Campus Pastor Rev. Wes Cain, Director of Athletics Bill Miller, Board of Regents Chair Mike Washington ’77, women’s soccer team member and TLU senior Jessica Robinson, Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen, and of course, Verne Lundquist himself.
The nearly 10,000 square foot center houses a conditioning and weight room as well as locker rooms for the women’s soccer and softball teams and a visitor center featuring Lundquist’s amazing sports memorabilia collection.
December 6, 2025 was officially declared by the mayor to be Verne Lundquist Day in Seguin in honor of the legendary sportscaster’s innumerable contributions to his alma mater and to the community.

Following the ribbon cutting, attendees enjoyed tours of the new building. Special thanks to Pfluger Architects of San Antonio, The Koehler Company of Seguin, and to all who have lent their support to the project.
