Every year, one student presentation is selected to receive the International Student Showcase Award presented by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). This year, Texas Lutheran University’s Dylan Swanson, William Errett, and Joaquin Rodriguez were named the winners for their presentation, Bulldog Investment Company.
“Winning the ACBSP International Student Showcase Competition is such an honor!” says Swanson. “The competition was an incredible opportunity to showcase the Bulldog Investment Company program and all the students’ hard work on an international level. It truly goes to show the quality of education and opportunities that are available at Texas Lutheran University.”
TLU’s Bulldog Investment Company is an internship program designed to help students in all majors to read and interpret financial statements and develop critical thinking, presentation, and public speaking skills. It was founded by TLU Alum Dave Sather, a certified financial planner and CEO of the Sather Financial Group, as well as a member of the university’s Board of Regents.
“Not only am I incredibly proud, I am appreciative of the dedication all the students in Bulldog Investment Company have put forth,” says Sather. “It obviously shows that TLU students compete at a very elite level which positions them well for the future!”
Swanson says that the team practiced their presentation hundreds of times in preparation for competition. The honor of winning the award includes a trip to this year’s ACBSP Annual Conference in Miami in June, as well as the opportunity to present there. “Bulldog Investment Company has taught me that with hard work and focus the sky is the limit! In the process I have built valuable professional skills and trust in myself.”
Swanson offers gratitude to Sather, Bulldog Investment Company, and the TLU Business Department. “Through my time in Bulldog Investment Company, I have gained real world experience through managing a ~$2 million portfolio, received internship opportunities, grown my network, and am now an International Champion! I can confidently say that joining Bulldog Investment Company was one of the best decisions I made in my college career. We’re off to Miami!”
ACBSP provides accreditation for more than 1,200 business programs around the world. Bulldog Investment Company celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.
