Texas Lutheran University has named Alecia McCain as its new Vice President for Enrollment.
“I am very pleased to announce that Ms. Alecia McCain will become TLU’s permanent VP for Enrollment effective Monday, April 8,” said TLU President Debbie Cottrell. “Alecia’s long tenure at TLU and deep knowledge of all aspects of our admissions work will serve her well as she takes on the leadership role for this highly critical area for our university. I am grateful for Alecia’s willingness to step forward in this way.”
McCain, TLU class of 2008, has been serving as the university’s interim VP for Enrollment since last October. She began her tenure at TLU in 2008 as an admissions counselor. Two years later, she became the Associate Director of Admissions. In 2013, she accepted the role of Director of Transfer and Graduate Admissions, and was promoted to Director for Admissions in 2017, eventually progressing to become Executive Director for Admissions. She stayed in that position until August of 2020, when she became Associate Vice President of Admissions. From there, she was appointed Interim Vice President for Enrollment—making her an extremely strong candidate for the permanent position.
“After serving TLU for the last 15 years, I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the VP for Enrollment” says McCain. “As an alum, I have firsthand experience on how transformational a TLU education can be for students. I am passionate about TLU, college admissions, and providing access and opportunities for students. I look forward to serving on Dr. Cottrell’s leadership team, working with the faculty and staff, and continuing to lead the admissions team as they work and guide prospective students and their families.”
McCain holds a B.A. in Biology and Education from TLU, and an M.Ed. in Secondary Education and Teaching from Texas State University. She is a member of both the Texas and National Associations for College Admissions Counseling.
As Vice President for Enrollment, McCain will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic enrollment plan which aligns with the goals of the university. She will assess enrollment, lead and support the enrollment team, and manage the admissions process at TLU.
