Seguin Chamber Names TLU Large Business of the Year

Texas Lutheran University is honored to be named the Large Business of the Year for 2025 by the Seguin Chamber of Commerce. TLU President Dr. Debbie Cottrell was in attendance to accept the award on behalf of the university at the Annual Banquet and Awards Presentation on September 17—an evening dedicated to honoring excellence, achievement, and community, bringing together leaders, peers, and partners to reflect on the year’s accomplishments.

Among those accomplishments for TLU this year: another healthy enrollment year; the groundbreaking on the new Verne Lundquist Student Athletic Center, which is being built by The Koehler Company and is set to open in December; the celebration of a new milestone—the graduation of TLU’s 500th nursing student, attesting to the success of the nursing program, which spans three campuses; and the creation the new position of Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships, a role filled by Dr. Sarah Ferguson, who will partner with Seguin and the surrounding communities to identify and help meet needs of the region in areas such as health, education, social infrastructure, and responses to growth. In addition, TLU is pleased to continue offering numerous events to the community, including lectures, cultural events, exhibits, and more.

Since coming to town in 1912, TLU has been a proud member of the community and will continue to value its partnership with Seguin.
