Nathan Roy Wins TXCPA Accounting Excellence Award

Since 1969, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants has honored one accounting student each year from each of the colleges and universities that participates in the programs of the Accounting Education Foundation.

It’s been announced that this year, senior Nathan Roy is TLU’s recipient of the Accounting Excellence Award.

“Nathan earned the highest GPA among the spring accounting graduates while also balancing the demands of intercollegiate athletics,” says Sally Cook, professor and director of TLU’s Master of Accountancy Program. “He was recognized for his accomplishments, both on the field and in the classroom, in his selection to the CSC Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, and he was chosen as an SCAC All-Sportsmanship honoree two years in a row."

Roy will graduate in May with his Master of Accountancy degree with a minor in information systems. From there, he plans to work for an accounting firm in Houston while continuing to study for the CPA exam. “I’m extremely honored to have received this award and believe it is the culmination of my five years at TLU.”
