Disability Awareness Week at TLU

TLU will be observing Disability Awareness Week, which runs March 18-23, with a lineup of events for the community.

On Monday, March 18 from 11-noon, there will be a virtual Neurodiverse Study Skills Workshop. There’s no need to preregister—just click the zoom link below to join the meeting. Then on Tuesday, all are invited to Wupperman Little Theater for a panel discussion entitled Self-Advocacy in Medicine from 4:30-6 p.m. The week wraps up on Saturday in Bulldog Stadium, during the D3 Challenge, a regional track meet hosted by TLU. At 10:30 a.m. there will be an exhibition race with local athletes from Texas Regional Para Sports, and all are invited to come out and cheer them on.

Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Dr. David Ortiz says that Disability Awareness Week is essential for fostering compassion and inclusivity. “By promoting empathy, understanding, and acceptance, Disability Awareness Week strives to create a more inclusive world where everyone, regardless of ability, can fully participate and thrive.”
