Around lunchtime in downtown Seguin, it’s not unusual to see a line of customers wrapped around the block, waiting to place their orders at Burnt Bean Company—and the air is perfumed with the mouthwatering, smokey smell of barbecue.

Most folks who’ve eaten there already know it’s the best in Texas, but now it’s official. Former TLU chef, Ernest Servantes, along with co-pitmaster Dave Kirkland, have just received yet another accolade for their restaurant: the top spot on Texas Monthly magazine’s celebrated list of the Top 50 Barbecue Joints for 2025.
Although the eatery has made the list before, this is its first year in the number one slot. Burnt Bean Co. is also a James Beard Foundation award winning restaurant, and is Michelin rated.
TLU sends congratulations to Burnt Bean Co.!
