Business Majors Marco Rodriguez and Ethan Sanchez recently received the 2023 Dr. Keith A. Russell Memorial Award for Academic Excellence from Financial Executives International (FEI) in San Antonio. Nominated by TLU accounting and finance faculty, the award recognizes outstanding academic achievement, campus and community involvement, commitment, and perseverance.

The award benefits San Antonio-area college students who excel in finance and accounting. Through the significant contributions of FEI's strategic partners and members, each year they are able to award 14 students from local universities with $2,000 each and $750 each to two students at Alamo Colleges to assist with their education.

About Dr. Keith A. Russell

Dr. Keith A. Russell joined the San Antonio Chapter in spring 2005 when he was appointed Dean of the Bill Greehey School of Business at St. Mary’s University. As Chapter President in 2007-2008, Dr. Russell challenged FEI leadership to significantly expand the awards program. This was
accomplished due mainly to the generous support of the chapter’s sponsors and affiliates. various chapter members wanted to remember Dr. Russell’s efforts by naming the annual awards program in his honor after his untimely death in 2008.
