More event information

On Thursday, April 13, TLU’s chapter of Water to Thrive will be hosting their 13th Annual Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction at First United Methodist Church in downtown Seguin from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Water to Thrive is a nonprofit organization that builds clean water wells in rural Ethiopia and Sierra Leon. TLU has had a relationship with Water to Thrive for twelve years and has successfully built eight wells in Africa. It costs $5,000 to build one well and each one serves about 500 people within the region.

The event will celebrate Ethiopian culture with a traditional Ethiopian dish and presentation before the silent auction featuring items provided by local Seguin businesses. There are several ways to assist in changing lives through Water to Thrive and contributors will be recognized at the event.

Ways To Contribute

  • Contribute a monetary donation. These donations will directly fund wells to provide access to clean water. You may make a donation online. You can also send an email to volunteer@tlu.edu to contribute.
  • Contribute a silent auction donation item. If you would like to contribute an item for us to sell at the Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction, please email Martha King or Kyndal Womack. We will gladly accept gift cards, edible donations, unique handmade items, or other items.
  • Purchase a ticket to attend the benefit dinner, which includes access to the silent auction items and the authentic Ethiopian meal. Tickets are $15 in advance, and $18 at the door. If you would like to purchase a ticket, please email Angelica Tovar-Gutierrez at the TLU Center for Servant Leadership or (830)372-8178.
