TLU Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds presents Wind Dances

The TLU Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds presents “Wind Dances,” vibrant, energetic written for the concert band. The Symphonic Winds program includes Jack Stamp’s Cenotaph (Fanfare for Band), Bloom by Steven Bryant, and the famous American Folk Rhapsody No. 2 by Clare Grundman featuring interesting treatments of tunes like “Billy Boy” and “Skip to my Lou.” The second half will feature TLU’s premier band, the Wind Ensemble on their program performed on a recruiting tour of local high schools Feb. 27-28. The Wind Ensemble’s program will feature TLU assistant professor of trombone, Dr. Lauren Casey-Clyde, and instructor of trumpet, Prof. Dan Orban, on two selections: Leonard Bernstein’s beautiful “A Simple Song” from MASS and Joseph Turrin’s Latin inspired Fandango. Other works include Bright Shadow Fanfare by Nicole Piunno and Omar Thomas’ Come Sunday in celebration of the Black church.
