Students will join President Cottrell on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 2:30 p.m., as she leads a fun-run from the President’s house to the TLU Krost trail for one lap followed by the annual Polar Bulldog Swim. Dr. Cottrell will participate in both the run and swim with students.
Now in its 17th year, the event always makes for great photos and stories (especially if it’s really cold) while also allowing students to take a mental break on Reading Day just before final exams. The pool is closed from late October until after Spring Break and is not heated, so very little activity and open air significantly cools the water from its usual comfortable temperature.
Students who participate must swim the length of the pool in order to receive their T-shirt for braving the waters. Those wishing to stay dry, and warm, can cheer swimmers on from the gate and enjoy congratulatory hot cocoa and treats with their fellow Bulldogs after the swim.
