For 1 billion people worldwide, the lack of clean water is creating a global crisis. TLU’s Water To Thrive chapter is particularly passionate about ensuring access to wells in developing countries. Based in Austin, Water to Thrive (W2T) is a nonprofit working to improve communities in places like Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania by funding wells that can provide clean water to more than 250 people for 20 years.
On Thursday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m., the TLU W2T chapter is hosting its seventh annual benefit dinner and silent auction at First United Methodist Church at 710 N. Austin St. in Seguin. Guests will enjoy an authentic Ethiopian meal, hear more about W2T, and have the opportunity to bid on a variety of silent auction items.
The students’ goal is to raise $5,000 before the end of the spring 2019 semester for a new well. To date, they’ve raised almost $17,000 and built four wells in Africa.
Tickets for the benefit dinner are available at TLU’s Center For Servant Leadership. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Please contact Denise Casas at firstname.lastname@example.org or 830-372-8160 to purchase tickets for this year's event.
If you’re unable to attend the benefit dinner and would like to help TLU’s W2T chapter complete a third well, please consider an online donation.
