TLU Volleyball back to winning ways

ALPINE, Texas – The Texas Lutheran women’s volleyball team ended its three-day, three-match road trip with a three-game victory Saturday over Sul Ross State. TLU defeated the Lobos 25-13, 25-20, 25-11 in the Gallego Center.

The Bulldogs improved to 12-5 overall and to 9-3 in the American Southwest Conference West Division.

Sul Ross State dropped to 1-18 overall and to 0-12 in the ASC West.

TLU snapped a two-match skid. The Bulldogs dropped matches on Thursday and Friday in Abilene to McMurry and Hardin-Simmons, respectively.

Against the Lobos, junior outside hitter Jessica Stetler led TLU with 17 kills. Stetler hit .516 with just one error in 36 attempts. Jamie Jahns, the senior middle blocker, added 11 kills on 19 attempts. She posted a hitting percentage of .316.

TLU recorded a .354 hitting percentage against Sul Ross.

Amanda Curry led TLU with 23 assists, and Blair O’Brien added 17 digs.

The Lobos did not have a player with more than four kills. SRSU hit only .108 for the match.

TLU returns home for Tuesday’s match against Howard Payne. Match time is set for a 6 p.m. start at Tostengard Activity Center.
