SEGUIN, Texas – Sarah Black and Jamie Jahns combined for 26 kills to lead the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to a 25-20, 25-16, 25-23 conference win Tuesday over the Schreiner Mountaineers.
At TLU’s Susan Duke Court in Tostengard Activity Center, the Bulldogs improved to 8-1 in the American Southwest Conference West Division and to 11-3 overall.
Schreiner dropped to 11-9 overall and to 5-4 in the ASC West.
Black, a junior outside hitter from Needville (Needville), delivered a game-high 14 kills. She hit .306 with just three errors in 36 attempts. Black added four digs.
Jahns, TLU’s senior middle blocker from Spring (Klein Collins), produced 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .250.
Senior setter Amanda Curry (Lago Vista/Lago Vista/Hardin-Simmons) recorded 34 assists, 10 digs and a block assists. Junior outside hitter Jessica Stetler (San Antonio/Churchill) led the Bulldogs with 15 digs.
Schreiner received nine kills from Tiffany Miller and 14 digs each from Holly Howard and Brittany Alvillar. Audra Burnap and Lauren Tharp combined for 31 assists.
TLU continues ASC West play this Thursday, Friday and Saturday with road matches at McMurry (6 p.m. in Abilene), Hardin-Simmons (5 p.m. in Abilene), and Sul Ross State (11 a.m. in Alpine), respectively.
