KERRVILLE, Texas – The Schreiner Mountaineers swept the season series from the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs with a 78-69 conference win Tuesday in the Edington Center.
Ralph Turner scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Mountaineers, who moved to 4-13 overall and to 4-9 in the American Southwest Conference West Division.
Schreiner has won two consecutive conference games.
TLU dropped to 3-13 overall and to 3-10 in the ASC West.
Riley Battle and Chris Jones-Conyers added 19 and 15 points, respectively, for Schreiner.
TLU received 17 points off the bench from first-year wing Isaac Williams (San Antonio/Wagner). Jonathan Hutton (Austin/Lake Travis) contributed 16 points and five rebounds off the bench.
The game was tied at 61-61 with five minutes to play before Schreiner seized control with an 11-2 run.
Schreiner went to the line 29 times in the second half and made 23 free throws.
A total of five technical fouls were handed out during the game. Three technicals were issued on TLU, and two were given to Schreiner.
TLU returns to Memorial Gymnasium in Seguin for Thursday’s 7:30 tip with Sul Ross State.
