Texas Lutheran University men’s soccer players Karl Ybarra, Pedro Martinez, Lee McMullan, and Taylor Forseth have been named to American Southwest Conference All-Conference teams after a vote of the league’s 14 head coaches.

Texas Lutheran Bulldog greats Richard Miller (football), Lili Torres-Ramirez (women’s tennis), Aaron Merhoff (baseball), Craig Saunders (men’s basketball) and Madeline Klasing Williams (women’s volleyball) will be inducted into the Texas Lutheran Athletics Hall of Fame during TLU Homecoming ceremonies this weekend.
TLU also will recognize its Athletics Leadership Wall of Honor Class of 2009. This year’s inductees are the Honorable Edmund Kuempel and Ken and Linda Voges.

The Bulldogs host a soccer doubleheader today (Friday) against Schreiner University. The women’s match starts at 1 p.m., and the men’s match begins at 4 p.m. TLU will have live video (with audio) for both matches.
The women’s team currently sits in 10th place in the ASC with a conference mark of 0-1-1. TLU’s overall record stands at 2-3-1. The men’s team is tied for 12th in the ASC with a conference record of 0-2. The Bulldogs overall record sits at 0-5.

The American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its annual meeting on Monday (Sept. 21) at the Holiday Inn Select-North Dallas hotel. Each of the ASC’s 15 member institutions were represented with at least one advisor and two student-athletes.
TLU women's volleyball player Jamie Jahns handled vice-chair duties at the meeting.

The American Southwest Conference has partnered with Clear Marketing Concepts in developing a weekly online video production that will highlight student-athletes, coaches, member institutions, games and academics. The show about the 15-member NCAA Division III-affiliated athletic conference will be called ASC All Access and produced every Wednesday throughout the academic year. ASC All Access debuted on Sept. 16. ASC All Access can be viewed by logging onto www.ASCsports.org/AllAccess or through any of the ASC’s 15 member institutions’ athletic websites.

The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team begins its 2009 season at TLU's Gustafson Field today with a 5 p.m. match against Southwestern University.
The Bulldogs, picked sixth in the American Southwest Conference Preseason Poll, start the year with a non-conference match against Southwestern, a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Pirates tied for second in the tough SCAC a year ago.

The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs are picked to make a return trip to the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament after placing sixth in the 2009 ASC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll. The poll was released after a vote of the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

The Texas Lutheran women's soccer team has moved its Tuesday, Sept. 1 match with Trinity University to San Antonio. The match, set for an 8 p.m. start, will be played at the Trinity University soccer field. The match was originally scheduled to be played in Seguin.
The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team still opens its 2009 season at home on Tuesday, Sept. 1. The match time for the TLU v. Southwestern match is set for 5 p.m. at TLU's Gustafson Field. TLU will have live video and audio for this season-opening match.
The men's soccer match between Texas Lutheran and Trinity, to be played Friday, Sept. 4 at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, will have a 3 p.m. kickoff. The match was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. start.

Texas Lutheran University was voted by its peers as the inaugural winner of the American Southwest Conference Sports Information Department of the Year award for the 2008-09 academic season. TLU was honored on Monday (Aug. 4) during the annual ASC SID meeting in Dallas.
