Spring Choir Tour 2017

“Grant Us Peace”

Under the direction of Dr. Douglas R. Boyer, director of the TLU School of Music and Choral Activities, the TLU Choir, Women's Choir and Kantorei Chamber Choir will perform in venues across Texas. The TLU Choirs will present a varied program featuring premiering works, world music, and both sacred and secular pieces on their spring 2017 tour.

In celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the choirs will present "Grant Us Peace." Utilizing the Agnus Dei as a central theme, the choirs present a meditation on prayer, grace, and peace through an eclectic mix of musical style and genres. Some of the selections include:

  1. "Lamb of God" arranged by F. Melius Christiansen
  2. "Prayer for Peace" by Felix Mendelssohn
  3. "Agnus Dei" by Paul Halley

The program will also feature a work composed by Latvian composer Éricks Ešenvalds for the TLU Choir. "O Magnum Mysterium," premiered at Christmas Vespers 2016, utilizes singing glasses and singing bowls to accompany the voices in expressing the mystery and wonder of this year’s program.

All performances are free and open to the public. No tickets required.
