Family Weekend 2017

October 6 - 7, 2017

Your student has been exploring so much since arriving at TLU. Join us for Family Weekend to learn about what your student has been up to, TLU traditions, and how to make the best of your student's experience.


To register, please complete the form at the end of this page. Registration will be open until Wednesday, October 4, at 8 a.m. 

When You Arrive


  • Friday, October 6 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Alumni Student Center
  • Saturday, October 7 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the Alumni Student Center


  • Before 5:30 p.m. on Friday, parking will be available for families in the lot behind Jackson Auditorium.
  • From 5:30 p.m. on Friday until 8 a.m. on Monday, all lots on campus are available for families. Fire lanes and handicap spaces will be enforced.
  • Parents and family members are also welcome to park in all spaces marked for visitors.

Family of the Year Nomination

The TLU Family of the Year contest is intended to celebrate the supportive role families play in the lives of students and the TLU community. At TLU, family is defined as individuals and group members who support their student. Family members include parents, spouses, partners, siblings, grandparents, cousins, extended relations and close friends. Students can nominate their family by completing this form. The family selected as the 2017 TLU Family of the Year will be honored Saturday, October 7.

Bulldog Family Mixer with Dr. Stuart Dorsey and Michelle Dorsey

Meet TLU President Dr. Stuart Dorsey and Michelle Dorsey. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

2 - 2:30- p.m.

The TLU Experience: Q&A with Kristi Quiros, vice president and dean of Student Life and Learning

Dean Quiros will update parents on the latest happenings at TLU and then open it up for questions and answers.

2:30 - 3 p.m.

TLU Parent Resources 101 – Samira López, director of First Year and Campus Programs 

Learn more about how to navigate the myTLU parent page and other parent resources offered. Discover the different ways the Office of First Year and Campus Programs stays connected with parents throughout the year. 

After 3 p.m.
