Pastor, TLU Alumnus Devoted to Service

Jorge Jones

Driven by the love and commitment to the Lord, TLU alumnus The Reverend Christopher E. Lake ‘96 inspires future generations of pastors through his example of service.

Pastor Chris, as he likes to be called, started his academic journey at Texas Lutheran University in the early 90’s. Originally from Lubbock, Texas, he decided to pursue Psychology as his major. Shortly after completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996 at TLU, Pastor Chris’ journey of becoming a pastor was becoming more apparent as he went on to complete a Master of Divinity at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. His wife Katherine is also a proud TLU alumna.

Today, after nearly 20 years of service, Pastor Chris serves as the senior pastor of Tree of Life Lutheran Church located in Conroe, Texas, just north of Houston. Anyone who knows Pastor Chris knows he has a strong emphasis on youth ministry and chaplaincy - which he hopes his teachings and service inspire future generations of Lutheran pastors. He is also a member of the TLU Corporation Board.

In addition to his service at Tree of Life Church, Pastor Chris is a certified Emergency Medical Technician and volunteers with the Angleton Emergency Services Team during his free time.

Pastor Chris’ connection to Texas Lutheran remains strong as one of his three children, Madeline, currently attends TLU. She is a junior majoring in political science with a minor in communications and is expected to graduate in 2024.
