Seguin, Texas – In light of today’s economic reality, The Center for Professional Development at Texas Lutheran University has launched a new online course, "Making Age an Asset in Your Job Search."
Based on research and programs developed by AARP, this course is a guide for people over 50 who want to make a career change, find employment opportunities, or learn the strategies that will give them the best chance of getting hired. You'll discover how you can capitalize on your age and experience as you reposition yourself in today's workplace. You'll find out how to use the AARP Foundation's exciting new interest and skills-assessment tool, WorkSearch. By the end of the course, you'll have completed a self-assessment so you'll know what kind of job is most suited to you, developed a résumé and cover letter, and prepared for that all-important interview. This course is being offered at a special rate of $49.
"Making Age an Asset in Your Job Search" is part of the Center's growing catalog of more than 300 instructor-facilitated online courses. Through well-crafted lessons, expert online instruction, and interaction with fellow students, participants in these courses gain valuable knowledge at their convenience. They have the flexibility to study at their own pace combined with enough structure and support to complete the course. And they can access the classroom 24/7 from anywhere with an Internet connection. New sessions of each course run every month. They last six weeks, with two new lessons being released weekly (for a total of 12). The courses are entirely Web-based with comprehensive lessons, quizzes, and assignments. A dedicated professional instructor facilitates every course; pacing learners, answering questions, giving feedback, and facilitating discussions.
