Texas Lutheran University’s Department of Academic Affairs seeks an Academic Affairs Assistant to join our Seguin campus in September 2026. This in-person, 30-hour-per-week position reports to the Director of Academic Affairs Operations and Process Analysis and plays a vital role on our team.

Position Title:            Academic Affairs Assistant

Division:                     Those academic divisions located within the building(s) to which the assistant is assigned

Supervisor:                Director of Academic Affairs Operations and Process Analysis, with additional direction from academic division chair(s) as noted above.

Position Summary:   This position provides administrative, facility, student, clerical, and project support for the building(s) and/or academic division(s) to which the assistant is assigned.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Responsibilities
    1. Be a welcoming and consistent presence to be able to assist with visitor and student support for general needs or questions as they relate to the building to which they are assigned. Be able to direct students to the appropriate department or person for inquiries and needs outside of their purview.
    1. Coordinate resources (equipment, facilities, and student workers) for the assigned building(s)
    1. Process financial paperwork such as purchase orders, invoices, and journal entries as needed
    1. Collect and approve student worker documents as appropriate for students directly reporting to the academic assistant as their supervisor (if applicable).
    1. Assist with catering orders through Sodexo for events associated with the departments and programs specific to their building.
    1. Assist with coordinating special events such as receptions or departmental and/or cross-departmental meetings
    1. Provide general oversight of the building to which the assistant is assigned, including maintaining the building signage and directory, electronic distribution lists, room scheduling, processing of work orders for building maintenance, and maintaining office equipment and general supplies in building offices and common areas
    1. Support the search chair for any search being conducted for a department or program in their assigned building, as outlined in the Faculty Search Guidelines provided by the Academic Affairs office.
    1. Additional duties specific to academic divisional or institutional needs, as assigned by supervisor and/or VPASA

Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or administrative program preferred. Relevant college coursework and/or a minimum of eighteen months of equivalent professional experience will be considered.

This position does require the ability to move and lift boxes, chairs, and tables for events, with assistance as appropriate for heavier or more cumbersome objects.

Texas Lutheran University is seeking applicants for a full-time Custodian. This position is primarily responsible for cleaning the building to which the individual is assigned. TLU is seeking reliable individuals that meet the following requirements:

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent or two years custodial experience may be accepted in lieu of education
  • Minimum of 4 months of custodial experience
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand and/or walk for 90% of an 8-hour workday. Job requires lifting, reaching, stooping, and bending
  • Must have good oral communication skills

Texas Lutheran University is seeking applicants for a part-time as needed Communication Specialist. This position is primarily responsible for routing incoming calls and providing information to the public. TLU is seeking reliable individuals that meet the following requirements:

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent. 
  • This position requires at least three (3) months of work experience working with the public, to include receptionist, dispatching or related duties.
  • Ability to communicate with the community, visitors, officers and staff via phone and radio systems.
  • Ability to prioritize incoming calls and push out the necessary information to appropriate individuals in a timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure during high stress situations and obtain detailed information.
  • Must exercise good judgment in providing for the safety and welfare of students, employees, visitors, and Texas Lutheran University property.
  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality.

  • Enter and maintain accurate daily activity logs to include a variety of communication equipment, including radio console, telephone, fire alarm monitoring systems and monitor university cameras. 
  • Receive emergency and non-emergency calls from staff, faculty, students, and the public requesting service and dispatch emergency personnel as necessary.

Texas Lutheran University (TLU) is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional to join our Admissions team as a Senior Data Application Analyst. This position plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in the student enrollment experience by ensuring that application and admissions data is accurate, complete, timely, and ready to support informed enrollment decisions.

Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment, the Senior Data Application Analyst will serve as a key resource for the processing and integrity of admissions data across undergraduate, transfer, graduate, and nursing populations. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems, identifying inconsistencies, and ensuring that systems and processes work accurately and efficiently.

What You’ll Do:

As the Senior Data Application Analyst, you will:

  • Manage the receipt, coding, verification, and processing of application data from platforms such as ApplyTexas and the Common Application.
  • Review applications and supporting documentation to identify and resolve data inconsistencies and errors.
  • Serve as the first-line resource for troubleshooting application and document issues.
  • Process applicant documents received through multiple electronic sources and ensure required documentation is appropriately recorded.
  • Proactively audit admissions data and correct irregularities to maintain a high level of data integrity.
  • Evaluate academic records to determine admission eligibility and academic scholarship eligibility.
  • Own the GPA recalculation and high school transcript evaluation process.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director for Admissions Information Systems on CRM administration, quality control, and admissions policies and procedures.
  • Create and edit CRM queries and reports to provide timely information and updates to enrollment leadership.
  • Communicate directly with applicants when questions or issues related to their applications need to be addressed.
  • Manage correspondence within the applicant email inbox and ensure timely responses.
  • Lead the processing and release of admissions decisions, including admits and denials.
  • Ensure accepted students are appropriately processed and acceptance materials are sent.
  • Process application withdrawals, cancellations, deposit cancellations, and appeal decisions.
  • Partner with the Department of Nursing to recalculate prerequisite GPAs for prospective nursing students.
  • Create, update, and maintain organization records within Slate and Jenzabar.
  • Assist with the annual updating of application forms, reports, and related admissions materials.
  • Import large data files and demonstrate a strong understanding of Slate source formats.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of admissions processes, data quality, and departmental effectiveness.
