Fun in the Dog Days: 2025 Summer Camp Wrap-Up

TLU comes alive every summer, hosting a variety of different camps that see the campus as the perfect place to gather together and learn. This summer, TLU has played host to everything from Texas Bluebonnet Girls State to Summer Music Academy, from youth sports camps to high school band camps.

The final two camps of the year have just come and gone, closing out the summer season. The first of the two was the Pride of the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg’s award-winning marching band, which has chosen TLU as its location for summer band camp since 2019. Among the leaders of that band is TLU alum Jeremy Kindla ’21, who serves as Assistant Director of Bands for the district.

The second and final camp was the prominent SA City Soccer Club, which is based in San Antonio. “We hosted their top boys’ teams (age ranges 12-17) as this was the first year their boys’ side has done a preseason camp like this,” said TLU Head Soccer Coach Eddie Salazar. “The coaching staff, led by Carlos Lopez de Silanes Molina, did a fantastic job to engage the boys, which resulted in a very successful camp of just over ninety players. I would like to thank Carlos and the club for the opportunity to host their first annual residential preseason camp. I look forward to working with SA City Soccer Club for years to come and am grateful to them for choosing to bring their players to our campus to kick-start their 2025-2026 year.”

TLU will now shift out of summer mode to prepare for a brand-new season—the start of the fall semester, and the return of the students.
