Fraternities & Sororities

Each fraternity and sorority at TLU has their own set of individual standards and principles, however as a campus community we are united by four core values: leadership, scholarship, service & philanthropy, and brotherhood/sisterhood.

Leadership

Greek organizations provide meaningful opportunities to develop strong leadership skills. Serving as an officer or committee chair within a chapter or governing council helps students build experience in conflict management, delegation, decision-making, and effective communication. In addition, involvement in Greek Life often encourages broader campus engagement, including participation in student government, clubs, and other organizations.

Scholarship

Scholarship is a foundational value of fraternity and sorority life at Texas Lutheran University. Each chapter requires members to meet minimum GPA standards for affiliation, initiation, and continued good standing, reinforcing a commitment to academic excellence and success.

Service & Philanthropy

TLU fraternity and sorority members are deeply committed to serving others through philanthropic efforts and community service. Many organizations support specific causes such as Susan G. Komen Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, and Adopt-a-Highway. Through these efforts, members actively contribute to both the campus and surrounding community.

Brotherhood/Sisterhood

Joining a fraternity or sorority means becoming part of a lifelong family. These organizations provide a “home away from home” for TLU students, offering support during both celebrations and challenges. The bonds formed within chapters create lasting friendships and a strong sense of belonging that extends well beyond college.

Greek Council is the governing body of all social Greek organizations and serves as the liaison between Student Activities and each Greek organization. Greek Council functions under the authority of the Division of Student Affairs.

Members of Greek Council are appointed through their respective fraternity or sorority and also include each organization’s president. Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC) and Inter-Sorority Council (ISC) presidents sit on Greek Council as non-voting members. Meetings occur once per month. Greek Council sponsors Greek Week every year.

The purpose of IFC and ISC is to coordinate the overall policies and activities of the social fraternities and sororities, strengthen relationships between organizations, serve as a communication link between TLU administration and individual chapters, and act as a mediator between the student body and the member organizations.

Omega Tau ΩΤ

Founded on October 20, 1958, Omega Tau is the oldest fraternity at Texas Lutheran University. With a strong legacy of alumni engagement and meaningful relationships with faculty, Omega Tau continues to be a proud part of the TLU community. Members actively participate in Greek Games, TLU intramurals, and various campus and community events. The fraternity is built on the values of brotherhood, scholarship, integrity and tradition.

Sigma Phi Theta ΣΦΘ

Sigma Phi Theta was chartered on the belief that no individual should be denied the opportunity to experience the brotherhood of a fraternity. The organization is dedicated to supporting the individuality of each member while prioritizing academic achievement and personal growth during their time at Texas Lutheran University.

Beta Alpha Sigma ΒΑΣ

Founded in 1934 on the TLC campus by a group of ten women dedicated to pledging their friendship to one another, Beta Alpha Sigma is the oldest sorority at Texas Lutheran University. With over 75 consecutive years of tradition, the Betas have built a strong legacy rooted in tradition, honesty, friendship, and unity. 

Members are actively engaged in campus life and the greater Seguin community through service, leadership, and social involvement. Each semester, the organization hosts a major campus-wide signature event, along with mixers, formals, philanthropy initiatives, and a variety of social activities that bring students together. Beta Alpha Sigma is known for its strong sisterhood, school pride, and commitment to maintaining a lasting presence at Texas Lutheran University. 

Delta Alpha Delta ΔΑΔ

Founded in 1969, Delta Alpha Delta is a sorority built on the foundation of authentic connections, academic excellence, leadership, and meaningful community engagement. After a period of inactivity, the organization has been re-established on campus and continues to rebuild its presence with a strong focus on growth, unity, and impact. 

Delta Alpha Delta emphasizes the importance of scholarship and personal development while encouraging members to become active contributors to both campus life and the surrounding community. Through service projects, social events, and leadership opportunities, members are given the tools to develop confidence, build relationships, and create lasting memories during their time at TLU. The organization continues to grow its identity as a space where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally. 

Xi Tau ΞΤ

Xi Tau is a social sorority dedicated to enhancing the student experience at Texas Lutheran University through friendship, sisterhood, loyalty, and trust. The organization is centered on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where members can form meaningful connections and develop lifelong bonds. 

Xi Tau actively participates in campus events, social programming, and community engagement opportunities that promote involvement and school spirit. Through these experiences, members are encouraged to grow as leaders, support one another, and contribute positively to the TLU community. The sorority is committed to fostering a strong sense of belonging while building traditions that strengthen both the organization and the campus as a whole.
